Senior guard Julius Brown paced the Rocket attack with 19 points. He connected on 7-of-10 from the field and 5-of-7 from three-point range. Joining Brown in double figures was sophomore guard Jonathan Williams (13 pts.), sophomore guard Jordan Lauf (season-high 12 pts.) and freshman guard Stuckey Mosley (season-high 10 points.) Freshman guard Kurt Hall also contributed a season-high eight points.
Brown also led UT with seven assists and directed the Rockets to a season-high 60.8 field-goal percentage. The Rockets tallied 22 helpers on 31 of their baskets.
Toledo limited Chicago State to a 39.3 shooting mark, including a 5-of-22 effort (22.7 percent) from behind the three-point arc.
Freshman guard Anthony Glover scored 15 points off the bench to top Chicago State offensively.
UT also enjoyed a significant advantage at the charity stripe, converting 16-of-19 attempts (84.2 percent) compared to the Cougars’ 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) conversion rate.
A Lauf trey followed by a pair of Brown three-pointers keyed a 9-0 Rocket burst that gave UT a 39-24 advantage with 2:17 to play in the first half. Toledo increased its lead to 20 points, 53-33, on a Williams’ layup less than five minutes into the second stanza. UT’s lead didn’t dip below 17 points the remainder of the contest.
The Rockets will now be idle for a week before returning to action with a 7:00 p.m. matchup vs. Arkansas State on Saturday, Dec. 13.
