Sixteen new scholarship players will be a part of Kent State's football program this summer, after 14 high school seniors signed national letters of intent Wednesday morning.  The Golden Flashes' 2016 class represents seven different states, including five Ohio natives.

Head Coach Paul Haynes welcomed seven offensive players, eight defensive players and one punter during his National Signing Day press conference.  The group includes 15 high school captains and 10 all-state selections.

"When it comes to our recruiting approach, it always
.  .  .

.  .  .  goes back to getting our kind of guys," Haynes said.  "This group is academically driven and hard-nosed on the field.  And they buy into what we're doing here.  This year we went after a few more skill guys (DB/WR/QB/RB)."

Collectively, the class holds a 3.0 grade point average and includes 15 multi-sport high school athletes.  Eight players were members of conference championship teams.
