MAC announces Basketball POTW

11/30/2015

The Mid-American Conference on Monday announced its YP.com Basketball Players of the Week .

YP.com MAC East Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Jimmy Hall, Kent State
Forward, R-Junior, Brooklyn, N.Y. (St. Anthony N.J.)

Hall averaged 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game to lead a dominant frontcourt effort that helped Kent State split of pair games over the past week. Hall started the week by just missing his second straight double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds in only 26 minutes in a 79-60 win over Saint Francis (Pa.). His most impressive performance came in a setback at Pittsburgh where he had 21 points and 7 rebounds, which included 5 on the offensive end. On the week, Kent State outrebounded both of its opponents for a +5.0 average rebound margin, was +14 on the offensive glass and +8 in second chance scoring. Known as one of the toughest and best rebounding teams over the past 10+ seasons, Pittsburgh entered Saturday's matchup 4th in the country in rebounding a margin (+15.0), but Hall was one of two Golden Flashes that had more rebounds than any Panther player and helped Kent State hold a 33-26 edge on the boards. Hall's five offensive rebounds in the first half helped the Flashes have almost as many offensive rebounds (11) as Pittsburgh had total rebounds (12) at halftime. The Panthers were averaging 29 rebounds per game, but finished with only 26 and grabbed 10 fewer offensive rebounds than their average.

Boothe averaged 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game and committed just one turnover in 100 minutes of action. Boothe registered the first triple-double in program history in UT's opening game, an 89-74 win over San State. Boothe tallied 12 points, a season-high 13 rebounds and a career-best 10 assists with zero turnovers vs. the Spartans. He then helped the Rockets down Loyola in the semifinals with 12 points, seven assists and six boards. In the championship game vs. Middle Tennessee, he tallied his second double-double of the week with 19 points, a game-high 12 rebounds and five assists.
