The Mid-American Conference on Monday announced its Week 13 Football Players of the Week.
MAC East honorees are: Marquis Young (UMass), Brandon Harris (Bowling Green) and Zach Paul (Akron). MAC West Honorees are Corey Davis (Western Michigan), Marlon Moore (Northern Illinois) and Kavon Frazier (Central Michigan).

East Division
Offensive Player of the Week:  UMass RB Marquis Young
UMass freshman running back Marquis Young (Fairport, N.Y.) rushed for 240 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns – all single-game career numbers – in a 31-26 win at Buffalo on Nov. 27.  Young's performance marked the most rushing yards by a Minuteman since Kevin Quinlan had 241 on Oct. 7, 2000 against Northeastern and 10th most in UMass single-game history. Young is UMass' first 200+ yards rusher since Tony Nelson's 204 yards at Hofstra on Nov. 22, 2008. He finished his true freshman season with 960 yards on 152 carries, good for a 6.3 yards per carry average.  This is the most rushing yards for a true freshman running back at UMass since Steve Baylark's 1,177 yards on 268 carries (4.4 per run) in 2003.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Bowling Green LB Brandon Harris
Bowling Green freshman linebacker Brandon Harris (Cleveland, Ohio) made the first start of his career on Nov. 24 at Ball State, leading the Falcons' defensively in a dominating 48-10 win on the road. Harris totaled a career-high 11 tackles and also added a team-high 2.0 tackles for loss in the contest. The Falcons, behind Harris' efforts, held the Cardinals to 2.9 yards per carry, and 3.4 yards per play.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Akron P Zach Paul
Akron senior punter Zach Paul (Broadview Heights, Ohio) punted three times for 117 yards (39.0 avg.), including a long of 45 yards in a 20-0 win over Kent State on Nov. 27.  Two of those punts landed inside the 20. His final punt in the fourth quarter was downed at the one-yard line to start Kent's final drive of the game. In 12 games, Paul has punted 71 times for 2,922 yards (41.2 average).  Twelve of his punts have been longer than 50 yards, while 23 were inside the 20.

West Division
Offensive Player of the Week:  Western Michigan WR Corey Davis
Western Michigan junior wide receiver Corey Davis (Wheaton, Ill.) had his sixth straight 100-yard game against No. 24 Toledo, helping the Broncos to their first win in program history over a ranked team. He finished with six receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns. This season he has 1,248 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranks ninth in the country in both categories. Davis moved into first place for among active FBS players for career receiving yards with 3,602. His two touchdowns give him 32 for his career, second most among active FBS players and tied for second most in Western Michigan history. His 3,602 yards are seventh most in MAC history, while his 32 TDs are sixth most.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Northern Illinois S Marlon Moore
Northern Illinois senior safety Marlon Moore (Mobile, Ala.) led the Huskie defense, which held Ohio out of the end zone for the last two-and-a-half quarters in a loss to the Bobcats on Nov. 24.  Moore totaled seven tackles, forced a fumble, intercepted a pass and broke up two as the Huskies held Ohio to field goal tries on four of their five trips inside the red zone.  He forced a fumble in the first quarter on the Ohio 22-yard line that NIU recovered to set up the Huskies' first touchdown.  He also stopped another scoring chance with an interception in the end zone to end the first half. Moore ranks second on the team with 88 tackles and has seven pass break ups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles on the season.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Central Michigan DB Kavon Frazier
Central Michigan senior defensive back Kavon Frazier (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had a key blocked punt in a 35-28 win over Eastern Michigan on Nov. 27. With the Chippewas trailing 21-14, Frazier blocked an Eastern Michigan punt deep in Eagle territory. Central Michigan would score two plays later to tie the game and go on to claim a 35-28 victory to lock up a share of the MAC West Division title.
