The Mid-American Conference on Monday announced its YP.com MAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week. This week’s honorees were Jaaron Simmons of Ohio and Travon Baker of Northern Illinois.

Jaaron Simmons, Ohio
Guard, Sophomore, Dayton, Ohio (Archbishop Alter)
Ohio men's basketball redshirt sophomore guard Jaaron Simmons (Dayton, Ohio) put together a big week to help the Bobcats (10-4, 1-1 MAC) open 2016 Mid-American Conference play with a split of games against West Division foes. Simmons averaged a team-high 20.0 points, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game, in addition to ranking second on the squad with 7.0 rebounds per game. He shot 46.7 percent (14-of-30) from the field and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.

Travon Baker led the way for NIU as the Huskies opened conference play 2-0 behind Baker's 25.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in a pair of wins over Ohio and Eastern Michigan. The senior from Detroit shot 52.2 percent from the field, including 55.6 percent from three-point range, and was also 94.1 percent from the free-throw line.
