Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio QB Nathan Rourke
Ohio junior quarterback Nathan Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) accounted for five total touchdowns, throwing a career-high four touchdown passes and adding another on the ground in a 49-14 win over Bowling Green. Rourke completed of 8-of-12 passes for 193 yards and carried 10 times for 101 yards. His 76-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Papi White in the second quarter marked the longest completion of his career. Rourke has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in four games in 2018 and has rushed for at least 100 yards twice this year.
Defensive Player of the Week: Miami LB Brad Koenig
Miami senior linebacker Brad Koenig (Ann Arbor, Mich.) had 23 tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble in a 31-30 (2OT) loss at Army. His 23 tackles rank 11th all-time in Miami history as the RedHawks held Army to zero passing yards for the game.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kent State P Derek Adams
Kent State junior punter Derek Adams (Manheim, Pa.) had a career-long 77-yard punt in the third quarter, tying for the third longest punt in program history in his first game this season in a 24-23 (OT) loss to Akron. Late in the fourth quarter with the score tied, he flipped the field with a 73-yard punt. Adams averaged 46.4 yards on eight punts, none of which were returned. He had four punts inside the 20.
Offensive Player of the Week: Eastern Michigan QB Tyler WiegersEastern Michigan senior quarterback Tyler Wiegers (Lake Orion, Mich.) registered 257 yards on 22-for-28 passing and three touchdowns in stiff wind conditions and ran for another in a 42-20 win at Ball State. Wiegers’ 78.6 completion percentage ranks second-best in Eastern Michigan single-game history, behind his 85.7 clip against Monmouth earlier this year. Wiegers scored on a keeper from the one-yard line with 24 seconds left in the half to push the advantage to 21-6. It was the first rushing touchdown of his career. His performance marked the first time an Eastern Michigan signal caller had thrown for three scores in a contest since Brogan Roback on Nov. 2, 2017 vs. Ball State. Wiegers leads the MAC while ranking 22nd nationally in completion percentage at 66.0 percent. Despite splitting time under center, he also ranks eighth in the MAC in passing touchdowns (8), as well as sixth in passing yards per completion (11.85).
Defensive Player of the Week: Western Michigan LB Alex Grace
Western Michigan junior linebacker Alex Grace (Saginaw, Mich.) had a team-high 11 tackles, one pass breakup and his first career interception in a 35-10 win at Central Michigan. Grace's interception was a key stop in the game as the Broncos had built a 21-0 lead at halftime, but Central Michigan was gaining momentum, outscoring the Broncos 10-0 in the third quarter. Grace's interception came with 12:42 left in the game, at the Central Michigan 40-yard line. Four plays later Western Michigan converted the turnover into a touchdown, increasing their lead to 28-10. With the victory, Western Michigan regained possession of the Victory Cannon Trophy, as well as the Michigan MAC Trophy. Western Michigan (6-2) has won six games in a row and is off to a 4-0 record in conference play. The Broncos are now bowl eligible for a program-record fifth straight season.
Co-Special Teams Player of the Week: Eastern Michigan P Jake Julien
Eastern Michigan sophomore punter Jake Julien (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) punted five times in a 42-20 win at Ball State. Battling windy conditions, Julien averaged 41.4 yards per kick and twice pinned the Cardinals inside their 20-yard line. Julien also registered a long on the day of 57 yards.
Co-Special Teams Player of the Week: Toledo P Bailey Flint
Toledo sophomore punter Bailey Flint (Melbourne, Australia) averaged 41.4 yards per punt under windy conditions in a 31-17 loss to Buffalo. Flint included a long of 58 yards and had two punts downed inside the 20.
