Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio RB A.J. Ouellette
Ohio junior running back A.J. Ouellette (Covington, Ohio) led Ohio with 145 rushing yards on a season-high 26 attempts in the Bobcats 27-20 (2OT) win at Eastern Michigan to open MAC play Saturday. Ouellette averaged 5.6 yards per rush and had a long of 30-yards. It marked the second-straight week that Ouellette reached 100-plus yards rushing. Ouellette also caught one pass for 42-yards and finished the game with 187 all-purpose yards.
Defensive Player of the Week: Miami LB Sam Connolly
Miami junior linebacker Sam Connolly (Chicago, Ill.) filled in for Junior McMullen and made the most of his opportunity in a 31-14 win over Central Michigan. In his first career start, the middle linebacker had a career-best nine tackles, one TFL and his first career interception. Central Michigan, who came into the contest averaging over 30 points and 490 yards, was held to 14 points and 345 yards in the 31-14 Miami win.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Buffalo K Adam Mitcheson
Buffalo junior kicker Adam Mitcheson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made both of his field goal attempts in a 34-31 win over Florida Atlantic. The junior kicker made a 23-yarder as time expired in the first half to tie the game at 17. Mitcheson made a clutch 42-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. His season-long field goal extended the Buffalo lead to 27-17 with 10:54 left in the game. Mitcheson was also a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points in the game.
West Division
Offensive Player of the Week: Toledo QB Logan Woodside
Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside (Frankfort, Ky.) threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-30 loss at Miami (Fla.), the 13th 300-yard passing game of his career. He attempted a career-high 48 passes, completing 28. He completed at least five passes to four different receivers.
Defensive Player of the Week: Eastern Michigan DB Brody Hoying
Eastern Michigan sophomore Brody Hoying (Coldwater, Ohio) led with a career-best 10 tackles and two forced fumbles in a 27-20 (2OT) loss to Ohio. Hoying recorded a career-high two forced fumbles, one which he recovered and returned 40 yards to set the Eagles up with prime field position, ultimately leading to a field goal. Hoying is one of just three players in the country, and the only player in the MAC, to have recorded at least two interceptions and two forced fumbles so far this season.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Toledo K Jameson Vest
Toledo junior kicker Jameson Vest (Peachtree City, Ga.) was three-for-three on field goal attempts, and for the third time this season he made at least three field goals in a game, in a 52-30 loss at Miami (Fla). Vest nailed a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter, tying his career long (Nov. 16, 2016 vs. Ball State). He has made 11-of-12 field goals this season.
