East Division Offensive Player of the Week: Miami QB Andrew Hendrix Miami quarterback Andrew Hendrix (Cincinnati, Ohio) completed 32-of-58 passes for 437 yards and four touchdowns and added 91 yards and a touchdown on the ground to help Miami to a 42-41 win over UMass on Saturday. The win snapped a 21-game losing streak for the RedHawks. Defensive Player of the Week: Kent State S Nate Holley Kent State sophomore safety Nate Holley (Toledo, Ohio) helped Kent State’s defense hold Northern Illinois to 17 points in a 17-14 loss with a team-high 16.0 tackles. Holley had a team best 12 solo stops and 1.5 tackles for loss and has led the Flashes in tackles for seven straight games. He ranks second in the nation in solo tackles per game (9.2) and third in total tackles (14.4). Special Teams Player of the Week: Bowling Green K Tyler Tate Bowling Green junior Tyler Tate (Carroll, Ohio) continued his excellent season on Saturday, proving to be a difference maker in Bowling Green's 36-35 win over Buffalo. In a game that was decided, in part, by a missed field goal, Tate made three field goals (32, 35, 31) in a swirling wind, and was a perfect 3-for-3 in extra-point attempts. Tate's 12 points marked his third game this season that he reached double-digit scoring. | West Division Offensive Player of the Week: Central Michigan WR Titus Davis Central Michigan senior wide receiver Titus Davis (Wheaton, Ill.) collected 181 yards on 10 catches and two touchdowns in the Chippewas 28-10 victory over Ohio. The 10 receptions and two touchdowns matched career highs. His two touchdowns came on Central Michigan’s first two possession of the game as he recorded 109 yards on those two series. Defensive Player of the Week: Toledo LB Junior Sylvestre Toledo senior linebacker Junior Sylvestre (Delray Beach, Fla.) totaled a season-high 14 tackles in a 20-19 OT win at Western Michigan, marking his second double-digit stops total of the season. Sylvestre was also credited with a sack in the fourth quarter and a pass breakup. Special Teams Player of the Week: Western Michigan P J. Schroeder Western Michigan junior punter J. Schroeder (Columbus, Ohio) had six punts for 246 yards (41.0 avg.) in a 20-19 OT loss to Toledo. Schroeder had his third-straight game with a punt average of at least 40 yards this season. The junior also landed two punts inside Toledo's 20 and had a game-long punt of 50 yards. |
