Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio QB Greg Windham
Ohio senior quarterback Greg Windham (Tampa, Fla.) led Ohio to a 37-21 victory at Kansas on Saturday. Windham led all players in the outing rushing for a career high 146 yards including a career long rush of 53 yards. Windham averaged 9.1 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown. Windham also passed for 167 yards going 19-36 with one interception and a touchdown pass to Mason Morgan. Windham is averaging 280 passing yards a game and 91.5 yards on the ground with a 132.3 efficiency rating and a 57.3 completion percentage.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ohio LB Chad Moore
Ohio junior linebacker Chad Moore (Grove City, Ohio) led Ohio with seven tackles including five solo stops in their 37-21 win at Kansas on Saturday. Moore also had two tackles for two-yards lost, one of which was a safety in the first quarter to put Ohio up 8-0. Moore dropped Kansas Running Back Ke’aun Kinner in the endzone to give Ohio its first safety of the season. Moore also recorded a quarterback hurry in the victory.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Akron PR JoJo Natson
Akron senior punt returner JoJo Natson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored Akron’s only touchdown at No. 10 Wisconsin. The senior returned a punt 55 yards for the score. It was Akron’s first punt return for a touchdown since 2004 (Domenik Hixon, 85 yards vs. Ball State, 10-23-04). After two games, Natson is the Zips’ scoring leader with four touchdowns for 24 points.
Offensive Player of the Week: Central Michigan QB Cooper Rush
Central Michigan senior quarterback Cooper Rush (Charlotte, Mich.) had four touchdown passes, including hail mary with no time on the clock to Jesse Kroll, who lateraled to Corey Willis for the game-winning touchdown against No. 22 ranked Oklahoma State. Rush was 30-of-42 passing for 361 yards and four touchdowns in the 30-27 victory.
Defensive Player of the Week: Central Michigan DB Josh Cox
Central Michigan junior defensive back Josh Cox (Warren, Mich.) collected nine tackles, seven solo, and one interception in the Chippewas 30-27 win at No. 22 ranked Oklahoma State. His fourth-quarter interception in the end zone kept the pressure on Oklahoma State while Central Michigan held a 24-20 lead.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Western Michigan PR/KR Darius Phillips
Western Michigan junior Darius Phillips (Detroit, Mich.) returned just the second punt return for a touchdown of his career 66 yards for a score on Saturday in Western Michigan’s 70-21 win over North Carolina Central. The punt return was the first by a Bronco for a touchdown since Greg Jennings accomplished the feat in 2004. Phillips also had a 29-yard return later in the game and finished with five total punt returns for 113 yards. He also added two kick returns for 58 yards including a long of 40 yards.
