Junior guard Jason Preston finished the game with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while senior forward Dwight Wilson III tallied 14 points, going a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, and hauling in 10 boards.
Redshirt junior forward Ben Vander Plas finished with 13 points, while Ben Roderick and Lunden McDay both contributed 12. Freshman guard Mark Sears chipped in 11 points. Travon Broadway Jr. led all scorers with 26 points. Caleb Huffman netted 17 points for the Chippewas, while Meikkel Murray added 10.
The Bobcats dominated in the paint, scoring 42 points compared to CMU's 20.
For the game, Ohio shot 56.7 percent from the field while holding Central Michigan to just 38.3 percent shooting.
With the Bobcats leading 23-18, Ohio went on a 7-0 run to take a 30-18 lead with just over seven minutes to go. Central Michigan responded, though, going on a 16-8 run over the final seven minutes to cut the Ohio lead to 38-34 going into halftime.
Central Michigan opened the second half on a 6-2 run, tying the game at 40. With the score even at 42-all, a layup and three from Roderick put the Bobcats back in front by three going into the first media timeout.
After the first media timeout, Ohio sprinted out to a 62-48 lead, scoring 20 points over seven minutes while holding CMU to just six points. Central Michigan then rallied back, cutting the Ohio lead to 10 at the under-four media timeout. That was as close at CMU got, though, as the Bobcats hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the deal.
