The verdict broke a five-game Rocket win streak and gave UT just its second loss since falling at Michigan back on Dec. 9. Ball State, meanwhile, broke . . .
The Cardinals connected on a modest 40.3 percent overall and were a similar 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. However, they held Toledo to 32.8 percent from the field and 21.9 on treys. A 50-39 advantage on the board further boosted Ball State's opportunities.
Six players reached double figures for BSU, which recorded 16 assists on the day. Joining Coleman (19) were Luke Bumbalough (14), Miryne Thomas (13), Brachen Hazen (12) and Kani Acree (10).
J.T Shumate paced Toledo with 13 points, followed by Keshaun Saunders (12), Setric Millner Jr. (11) and Marreon Jackson (11).
Toledo blitzed the hosts early, opening up a 19-3 lead by the 13:06 mark. However, Ball State found its range and outscored UT 31-9 to trail by just two (36-34) at the break.
A Thomas triple moved BSU in front when play resumed and the teams traded leads until Bumbalough drained a three at 5:51. That started a 22-3 Cardinals run that left BSU in command.
