The Rockets are . . .
Toledo' senior guards Marreon Jackson and Spencer Littleson played a key role in the victory. Jackson registered his second-straight double-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Littleson tallied 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from behind the three-point arc.
Sophomore Keshaun Saunders contributed 14 points off the bench, and junior Setric Millner Jr. scored 10 points in the second half.
Toledo shot 50.0 percent from the field as well as impressive 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from three-point range and 88.9 percent (16-of-18) from the charity stripe. The Rockets limited Akron to a 42.9 shooting mark and 32.0 three-point FG% (8-of-25).
The Bulls outrebounded Ball State, 44-40, and scored 22 points off 18 Ball State turnovers.
"I'm really proud of the mental toughness and resiliency that our team had to show tonight," said Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk who earned his 200th victory on the Toledo sidelines. "We faced a lot of adversity with foul trouble and then Akron came back to tie the score. Keshaun Saunders did a very good job defensively, and we defended the three-point line a lot better than we did in our first meeting."
