Miami led Clemson by eight with 10:49 to go Tuesday, but the Tigers erupted for a 20-2 run to take control on the way to an 89-76 victory.
It was the RedHawks first game in 10 days, but they trailed by just one, 36-35, at intermission. Mekhi's Lairy's triple opened second half scoring and put MU in front.
Dalonte Brown's three free throws and a trey by Dae Dae Grant later gave Miami a 57-49 advantage. Grant, a junior guard, led MU with 20 points, while Brown and Lairy also reached double figures with 12 apiece.
PJ Hall's bucket at the other end got Clemson started, and the hosts owned a 72-61 lead before Miami scored another field goal. That was a triple by Isaiah Coleman-Lands with 5:41 to go. However, CU extended its advantage to 17 points (85-68) at the 2:28 mark and went on to pick up its seventh victory in 11 outings this season. Clemson drained 8 of 12 (66.7%) second half shots from beyond the arc.
Six Tigers reached double figures, led by Alex Hemenway's 17 points. He hit 5 of 6 from the field, including all three trey attempts. Clemson connected on 54.2 percent (13 of 24) from outside the arc and went 30 of 59 (50.8%) overall.
Miami made 26 of 61 (42.6%) from the floor and hit 36.7 percent (11 of 30) from long distance. The RedHawks were just one short of equaling Clemson on rebounds (35-34) and three RedHawks owned seven boards each. Among them was 6-8 senior forward James Beck, seeing his first action of 2021-22. He also chipped in four points while playing 15 minutes.
