BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bulls (1-1, 0-0 MAC) dropped their contest against the undefeated James Madison Dukes (3-0, 0-0 Sun Belt), 97-62 on Saturday afternoon.
Heading into the game, James Madison was white hot as they scored over 100 points in each of their first two games of the season. The Bulls came into the game with a huge win over Patriot League preseason favorite Colgate on Monday evening. The Dukes shot over 50% and made 32 of their 41 free throws. The Bulls struggled offensively as they shot .32.1% and were just 4-for-22 from three-point range.
Buffalo's largest lead in the contest came off a Curtis Jones three-pointer at the 18:52 mark of the first half to give the Bulls a 3-2 lead. The lead, however, would last for just 30-seconds. James Madison would retake the lead and never look back as the Dukes led for over 39-minutes.
Both the Dukes and Bulls were far from perfect as there were 56 turnovers in the game. 30 of which were committed by the Bulls. James Madison outscored Buffalo 33-15 on points off of turnovers
Curtis Jones led the Bulls with 13 points as he was the only scorer to reach double figures. He also scored 13 of the 30 points that came from the UB starters. C. Jones went on to add a team-high six rebounds on the afternoon. Zid Powell had 4 of the team's 16 steals and added eight points.
OHIO 81, CLEVELAND STATE 70
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats (1-1) returned to action on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 12), defeating Cleveland State (0-3), 81-70, inside the Convocation Center.
Junior guard Jaylin Hunter led Ohio with 17 points, four rebounds and seven assists, while going 4-of-7 from three. Senior guard Miles Brown added 14 points and went 6-of-6 from the line, while senior DeVon Baker scored 13 points. Graduate student forward Dwight Wilson III led with a game-high 14 rebounds and freshman guard Elmore James added eight points for the Bobcats.
As a team, Ohio shot 52 percent from the field, 55 percent from three and were 17-of-19 from the line, while Cleveland State shot 45 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and were 14-of-24 from the line. Both teams pulled down 32 rebounds, while Ohio dished out eight assists and forced 13 turnovers, scoring 19 points off them. CSU dished out 14 assists and had seven steals, while forcing 13 turnovers.
For CSU, the Vikings were led by Yahel Hill with 20 points, followed by Tae Williams with 12. Deante Johnson added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Ohio led 38-30 at intermission and worked the lead to 19 points before finally recording an 11-point victory.
INDIANA STATE 83, BALL STATE 71
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Ball State men's basketball team was back in action on Saturday for its first road matchup of the year against Indiana State. Jarron Coleman led the Cardinals with a game-high 29 points and a team-high four assists, as BSU fell to ISU 83-71.
Coleman led the Cardinals with a game-high 29 points. He added a team-high four assists and four rebounds. Demarius produced his first double-double in a Cardinal uniform with a game-high 10 rebounds and 10 points. Demarius Jacobs added three assists and one block. Payton Sparks finished with 18 points, a team-high two blocks, and added one assist.
The first three minutes of the game were a back-and-forth battle with the score 8-6, in favor of the Sycamores. Indiana State went on an 11-2 run and extended its lead to 19-8 with just under 12 minutes left in the half.
The Cardinals answered with a 7-0 run and cut the lead to 19-15 with eight minutes left in the half. The Sycamores were able to extend their lead and took a 43-31 advantage at the half.
After two free throws put ISU up 53-40, BSU started to battle back. The Cardinals went on a 12-5 run and cut the deficit to 58-52 with 12 minutes left in regulation.
With 10:13 left in the game, the Sycamores held a 12-point lead, 65-53. Ball State went on a 9-2 run that was capped off by Coleman scoring on an in-bound play.
With the score 69-64 with 5:30 left in regulation, Indiana State went on a 6-1 run. The Sycamores' early lead was too much for the Cardinals to overcome as Indiana State won by a final score of 83-71.
Cooper Neese led Indiana State with 17 points and added four rebounds. Courvoisier McCauley notched 14 points with a team-high six rebounds. Jayson Kent, Trenton Gibson, and Kailex Stephens all collected double-digit points as the Sycamores had five players in double figures.
MIAMI 87, GOSHEN COLLEGE 44

OXFORD, OH -- After struggling to a late first-half 21-all tie, the Miami RedHawks (1-1) went on to cruise past Goshen College (Ind) 87-44 Saturday afternoon at Millett Hall.
Former William & Mary player Julian Lewis and freshman Billy Smith led four RedHawks in double figures. Each registered a double-double, with Lewis scoring 17 points with grabbing 10 rebounds. The 17 tied his career high, while the rebounds were a new career high.
Point guard Mekhi Lewis tallied 13 points, while Eli Yofan added 12 as the Red and White gave new Head Coach Travis Steele his first Miami win. Senior Anderson Mirambeaux, who led MU with 27 points against Evansville in Monday's opening night loss, was limited to seven points, but he played just 16:38 this time out.
With Miami missing four key veteran pieces, Saturday's lineup included two freshmen and a sophomore. As they did Monday, the RedHawks sputtered early. Nine of MU's 11 turnovers on the day came during the first half. Miami also shot 27.8 percent from the field and 16.7 percent (2-of-12) on treys before intermission.
Kedrick Bibby's steal and basket at 3:42 pulled the Maple Leafs even at 21-all. However, MU tacked on five more points while holding the visitors scoreless as the RedHawks took a 26-21 lead into halftime.
That mini-run turned out to be a very small preview of things to come. Miami outscored Goshen 38-4 on the way to a 60-25 lead with 11:01 remaining. With the outcome in hand, the RedHawks were able to spread out some game experience. Ten players scored and 10 of 11 logged at least 4:50 on the court. Miami recorded 18 steals on the day (second highest in program history). Smith accounted for six of them.
Overall, Miami generated 61 points and connected on 64.7 percent of its shots from the floor in the seond half. It was also good on 6-of-12 from beyond the arc and made 11-of-14 free throws.
