Individually, senior guard Jaylin Hunter led Ohio with 17 points, going 6-of-10 from the field, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists. Graduate student guard Shereef Mitchell added 16 points, had five assists and forced four steals, while sophomore guard Ajay Sheldon added 12 points, going 4-of-5 from three. Sophomore forward Aidan Hadaway added 11 points and a team-leading eight rebounds and three steals, while junior forward AJ Clayton scored 11 points and had five rebounds.
Tyern Freeman paced KSU with 16 points, followed by Chris Payton Jr (13) and VonCameron Davis (11).
Ohio led 33-32 at intermission, but KSU held small leads early in the second stanza. The last was 39-38 at 17:54 following a trey by Tyem Freeman. Ohio's Aidan Hadaway responded with a dunk at the other end, and the Bobcats never trailed again. Their largest lead was 59-48 at 9:01 after a triple by Sheldon.
Kent State pulled within three at 2:03, but Hunter fielded a block by KSU's Tyem Freeman and quickly drained a three. The Flashes could get no closer than six after that.
