Neither team shot well from long distance, with UB hitting 6 of 30 (20%) trey attempts and Akron sinking 5 of 22 (22.7%).
The two teams were knotted at 30-all before Akron scored four straight points before intermission. The Zips then outscored Buffalo 42-29 in the second stanza.
