Offensive Player of the Week
Eli Peters, Toledo, QB
Senior, Jacksonville, Fla.
Senior quarterback Eli Peters threw for a career-high four touchdowns to lead the Midnight Blue and Gold in the win over Bowling Green.Peters finished the night 20-of-32 for 214 yards. He threw touchdowns to four different receivers. He also ran for 67 yards on six carries.
Defensive Player of the Week
Troy Hairston, Central Michigan, Defensive Line
Senior , Birmingham, Mich. (Birmingham Seaholm)
Hairston had a dominate performance in CMU's victory over Ohio, racking up three sacks, the fourth-most sacks in a game by a CMU players in the last 15 years. The senior also added seven solo tackles and a forced fumble as the CMU defense held OU scoreless in the second half.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Luke Elzinga, Central Michigan, Punter
R-Freshman, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Grand Rapids Christian)
In his first career game, Elzinga had a fantastic performance with a 47.2 average on five punts. He had three punts downed inside the 20 include one downed at the three. Elzinga also booted a 76-yard punt, the longest CMU punt since 2013.
East Division

AJ Mayer, Miami, QB
Sophomore, Edgewood, Ky. (Covington Catholic)
With starting quarterback Brett Gabbert exiting the game early in the second quarter with an injury, AJ Mayer stepped in and recorded career bests in completions (16), attempts (24), passing yards (212) and touchdowns (3), helping the RedHawks to erase an early 21-10 deficit and beat Ball State 38-31. he added career bests in rushing attempts (6) and rushing yards (24).
Jaret Patterson, Buffalo, RB
Junior, Glendale, MD (Saint Vincent Pallotti)
Patterson rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He scored his first touchdown on the third play of the game on a 5-yard run. After NIU scored to make it 14-10 in the second quarter, Patterson ripped off a 56-yard TD run to extend the UB lead to 21-10 late in the half. The junior running back scored his 35th career rushing touchdown to break the all-time school record.
Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan McWood, Miami, LB
Senior, Groose Pointe, Michigan (Brother Rice)
McWood came up with his first career interception at the perfect time. With the Cardinals driving for a winning score, McWood intercepted a pass and returned it to the Ball State six-yard line. Two plays later the RedHawks scored the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds to play in the contest. McWood finished the game with a career-high 14 tackles as well.

De'Montre Tuggle, Ohio, Running Back/Kickoff Returner

Tuggle ran the second-half kickoff back 93 yards for a touchdown on his way to finishing with a career-high 160 yards on three returns as the Ohio football team (0-1, 0-1 MAC) fell to MAC West Division foe Central Michigan, 30-27, in the 2020 season opener last Wednesday (Nov. 4) at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Mich. Tuggle's kickoff return for a touchdown marked his first as a Bobcat. He also scored his 12th career rushing touchdown as a Bobcat from three yards out with 58 seconds left in the second quarter. He earned the distinction of becoming the first Ohio player to both rush for a touchdown and return a kickoff for a touchdown in the same game in at least 60 years. Tuggle finished the contest with a team-high 79 rushing yards on 16 attempts in addition to his kickoff return yardage, giving him a game-high 239 all-purpose yards. He has now recorded five career games with two touchdowns scored.
