Seven MAC football players get NFL draft call

Kansas City, Mo. -- A total of seven MAC student-athletes were taken in the 2023 NFL Draft. Eastern Michigan offensive lineman Sidy Sow was taken in the 4th round (pick 117) by the New England Patriots, while Bowling Green linebacker Karl Brooks was selected in the 6th round (pick 179) by the Green Bay Packers. Western Michigan linebacker Zaire Barnes (pick 184, New York Jets) and Eastern Michigan defensive end Jose Ramirez (pick 196, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) were also taken in the 6th round. 

Central Michigan running back Lew Nichols III was selected in the 7th round (pick 235) by the Green Bay Packers, while Ball State defensive back Nic Jones was taken with pick 250 by the Kansas City Chiefs. Toledo defensive end Desjuan Johnson earned the tag of Mr. Irrelevant after being selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the final pick in this year's draft (pick 259).
