The contest was a makeup of an earlier matchup that was postponed due to a blizzard that buried the Buffalo region November 19. With Friday's win, however, Buffalo (6-6, 5-3 MAC) reached bowl eligibility for the fourth time over the last five seasons. Akron, slipped to 2-10 (1-7 MAC) in Head Coach Joe Moorehead's first year with the program.
Akron jumped out to a 16-0 lead early in the second quarter, but Buffalo made it a 16-10 game at intermission.
Buffalo moved in front, 17-10, after Snyder hit Justin Marshall with a 6-yard third quarter TD pass. Akron then regained the lead on a 17-yard Clyde Price III run at 11:37 of the final period. A two-point conversion attempt failed.
Tyson Durant's interception at 3:16 gave Akron possession and a chance to put the game away, However, UB forced a fumble on the first play, with Jaylon Bass recovering. The Bulls then drove 62 yards for the winning score. Marcus Fuqua picked off an Akron pass (his second pick of the game) to end a final Zips drive.

~~ Akron outgained the Bulls 306-291 and had one more first down.
~~ UA managed just 52 net yards rushing, although Price II rushed 19 times for 79 yards and one score.
~~ Akron QB Jeff Undercuffler Jr. completed 28-of-45 pass attempts, good for 247 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. Buffalo's Snyder connected on 22-of-43 attempts for 264 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. The Bulls netted just 27 yards rushing.
