The Mid-American Conference tournament begins tonight for eight of the 12 members. Top seed Akron, along with Ohio (2), Buffalo (3) and Central Michigan (4) own byes and will begin quarterfinal play Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
For the rest, all it takes to get there is winning one of the following games at campus sites:
Bowling Green (12) (14-17, 5-13 MAC) at Kent State (5) (19-12, 10-8 MAC)

>> Kent State won both meeting between the two teams this year: 62-59 at BG Jan. 23 and 70-54 in Kentlast Tuesday.

Miami (11) (12-19, 10-8 MAC) at Ball State (6) (19-12, 10-8 MAC)

>> Ball State won both meetings. The Cardinals came from behind to win 48-46 in Muncie on a shot with less than two seconds left. They had an easier go of it in Oxford, pinning a 73-56 loss on MU Feb. 16.
Western Michigan (10) (13-18, 7-11 MAC) at Northern Illinois (7) (20-11, 9-9 MAC)
