It was back in early April when the NCAA issued a ban on football “satellite camps. No small amount of the opposition came from some big programs in the south, as well as some other fertile recruiting states such as California and Texas.
No sooner had the ban been announced, however, than outcries arose against the ban. Group of 5 schools, for instance, looked at such camps as a chance to expand their footprint. Others pointed out that it was good for athletes, giving them more/ better opportunities to be see by programs that might later offer scholarships.
In any case, the NCAA reversed field this past week, and satellite camps are back in play. On Monday, one MAC school announced a series of upcoming camps, including three satellite events.
