MAC PLAY PREVIEW: Buffalo Bulls

ABOUT THE BULLS: 
>>>>> Buffalo went 17-15 overall and 11-7 in MAC play last year. Kent State edged UB in quarterfinal action, 68-65, to end the Bulls two-year reign as MAC champs.
 
>>>>> UB has played two overtime contests to date, winning both. In addition to beating Alabama Birmingham Nov. 21, the Bulls finished non-conference play Thursday with an 86-81 overtime win against
NJIT Thursday. The latter victory ended a two-game losing streak as Buffalo fell on the road at Syracuse and at No. 8 Texas A&M.
 
>>>>> Senior guard Wes Clark and junior guard C.J. Massinburg lead Buffalo scorers, averaging 19/7 ppg and 19.5 ppg, respectively. However, Clark has only been available for the last three games. He averaged 9.8 ppg last year at Missouri.
 
Massinburg has reached double figures in every game after the opener and owns five double-doubles. His highest point total this season is 29 against No. 12 Cincinnati. He is the team’s top 3-point shooter with 41 treys in 97 attempts (42.3%) and has connected on 45.4 percent of his shots from the field overall.
 
>>>>> Other Bulls averaging double figures are junior forward Nick Perkins (14.7 ppg), junior guard Jeremy Harris (11.5 ppg) and Dontay Caruthers (11.3 ppg). The latter last played Dec. 2 against St. Bonaventure.
 
>>>>> Massinburg leads the team in rebounds (8.0 rpg). He was honorable mention All-MAC last season. Perkins was named MAC’s Sixth man of the Year in 2016-17.
 
>>>>> The Bulls return six players who saw action las season.
 
>>>>> Buffalo ranks second among MAC teams in scoring average (81.1 ppg and is 11th in scoring defense (80.0 ppg. It is seventh in scoring margin (+2.9 ppg).
