TOLEDO ROCKETS (5-1, 2-0 MAC)
>>> The Rockets improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 MAC play last Saturday when they defeated Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant 30-10 in a driving rainstorm. UT used its running attack to wear down the Chippewas, gaining 310 yards. The Rockets defense, meanwhile, held CMU to 244 total yards.
>>> Toledo is averaging 36.3 points and 425 yards offensively through its first six games. The Rockets are led by senior QB Logan Woodside, who has completed 63.4 percent of his passes (121-of-191) for 1,724 yards with 11 touchdowns and only one interception.
>>> Terry Swanson leads a potent ground game that is available when needed. The senior has rushed for 500 yards and seven touchdowns.
>>> Toledo receivers are paced by sophomore Diontae Johnson, who has 30 receptions for 492 yards and five touchdowns. Johnson has taken up the slack for senior WR Cody Thompson, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in their home win over Eastern Michigan.
>>> The offensive line has allowed 12 sacks
>>> The Midnight Blue defense has allowed 27.5 points and 377.7 yards per outing, while surrendering just six sacks so far.
>>> Among the defensive leaders, Jordan Williams owns 31 total tackles (19 solo). Junior DE Ola Adeniyi has seven sacks and senior LB Ja’Juan Woodley has registered two interceptions.
>>> The Zips saw almost everything but cold and snow last Saturday in Kalamazoo. Downpours, lightning and water about six inches deep in their locker room eventually forced a one-day postponement. After over one million gallons of water was drained from Waldo Stadium early Sunday morning, Akron edged Western Michigan 14-13 for the Zips first win on Broncos turf since 1997.
>>> UA is 3-0 in MAC play for the first time since joining the conference and enjoys its longest winning streak since winning six-games over two season (2015-16)
>>> Thomas Woodson completed 13-of-24 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown -- that going to TE Kobie Booker in the first quarter.
>>> UA managed just 215 yards in a howling wind. Manny Morgan had 12 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown late in the first quarter. A.J, Coney registered three receptions for 38 yards
>>> The Akron defense was led by Jamal Davis, who had 12 total tackles (10 solo). However, the biggest play on defense was turned in by Kyron Brown. On WMU’s opening possession the Broncos were driving down the field when Brown intercepted a Jon Wassink pass and returned the ball 70 yards, setting up the Zips first touchdown.
