9/15/2017

While the Bowling Green Falcons are hunting for their first 2017 victory, the Northwestern Wildcats might be searching for a little consistency.
After rolling up 508 yards of offense in a 31-20 win over Nevada to open their 2017 season, the . . .

. . . Wildcats were held to 191 yards at Duke last week. Instead, it was the Blue Devils eclipsing 500 yards (538) in a 41-17 drubbing of Northwestern.

Bowling Green, meanwhile, has been consistent in one particular stat; it has surrendered 35 points in each of its first two games. The Falcons fell to Michigan State 35-10 in Week One and dropped a 35-27 decision to South Dakota last week.

Saturday, Sept. 16 – 7:30 p.m. ET
Ryan Field – Evanston, Ill.

NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS (1-1)
● Northwestern is averaging 24.0 ppg and 349.5 ypg. Three-fourths of the yardage comes via the passing game.
● Junior Clayton Thorson has completed 39 of 67 attempts (58.2%) for 472 yards with two TDs and three interceptions.
● Thorson completed just 11 of 29 for 120 yards with two interceptions in last week’s loss to Duke.
● Senior Justin Jackson leads Northwestern’s ground game, totaling 127 yards and one TD on 37 carries.
● Sophomore wideout Bennett Skowronek is a big target at 6-4, 218. He leads the Wildcats with nine receptions for 132 yards. Junior Flynn Nagel owns seven receptions for 56 yards and two of NU’s three passing touchdowns.
● Paddy Fisher tops Northwestern tacklers with 22 stops (nine solo). Kyle Queiro has 2.5 tfl. and an interception.

BOWLING GREEN FALCONS (0-2)
● The Falcons are 2-0 against Northwestern, posting victories in 2001 and 2003.
● Placekicker Jake Suder has the second most field goal attempts in the country without a miss.
● With 39 more punts, Joe Davidson would rank fourth in NCAA history in career punting average. He was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist last year.
● True freshman Andrew Clair leads the Falcons with 200 all-purpose yards in the first two games.
● A BG win would give the Falcons a 4-3 record against the Big Ten since 2014. It would also be the ninth Falcon victory over current Big Ten teams all-time.
● Quarterback James Morgan was the first freshman in school history to throw for 250+ yards in three consecutive games.
● Morgan threw for 311 yards with 2 TDs and one pick last week against South Dakota. However, Morgan completed just 20 of 49 attempts (40.8%) and has been good on 37.5 percent off his throws on the season.
● Datrin Guyton and Scott Miller have contributed seven catches aiece for a total of 289 yards.
● Josh Cleveland is averaging 5.7 ypc with 103 yards on 18 trips. The Falcons have yet to score a rushing touchdown.
