NORTHERN ILLINOIS AT OHIO STATE

One of the top MAC teams gets its shot at the nation’s top-ranked team Saturday at Northern Illinois visits Ohio State. The Huskies are one of two MAC teams facing OSU this year. Western Michigan goes to Columbus next week for the Buckeyes last non-conference game.

OHIO STATE (2-0, 0-0 BIG TEN)

Okay, the Buckeyes are loaded, especially at quarterback. -- Cardale Jones has been the primary QB, and gives OSU a multi-talented threat. He has completed 22 of 37 passes for 298 yards (59.5%) with two TDs and one interception. Jones also has 19 carries for 104 yards with one touchdown.

-- J.T. Barrett has also seen action, completing 9 of 16 for 96 yard with one TD. He has two rushes for 47 total yards.

-- Former QB Braxton Miller has turned his talents to receiving. So far, he owns five receptions for 95 yards and a TD. Miller has one reception for 54 yards and also has 13 carries for 118 yards (including a rush for 53 yards).

-- Michael Thomas leads receivers with seven catches for 98 yards with one TD.

-- Ohio State totals three touchdowns through the air and seven on the ground.

-- Ezekiel Elliott paces OSU rushing with 38 carries for 223 yards (5.9 ypc) with a team-high four touchdowns.

The Buckeyes are 2-0, with wins over Virginia Tech (42-24) and Hawaii (38-0).

NORTHERN ILLINOIS (2-0, 0-0 MAC)

The Huskies were tested by UNLV (38-30) in their opener but rolled past Murray State, 57-26 in Week Two.

This is the third meeting for NIU against a national No. 1. The Huskies fell to Ohio State (35-12) in 2006 and also lost to Miami (Fla) (34-0) in 1986.

-- Quarterback Drew Hare became the first Huskie quarterback to throw for 300-or-more yards in back –to-back games since NIU became an FBS program in 1969. He registered 360 passing yards against UNLV and followed with 358 last week against Murray State.

-- North Dakota transfer Kenny Golladay has quickly become a prime target. He has 17 catches for 357 yards and two scores. His nine-catch, 213 yards day against UNLV led to MAC Player of the Week honors.

--  Huskie tight ends Shane Wimann and Desroy Maxwell hve combined for 13 catches for 109 yards and four touchdowns. NIU tight ends totaled 19 receptions for 177 yards and one TD all of last year.

-- Junior tailback Joel Bouagnon recorded his first career 100-yard game with 152 yards on 21 carries in the season opener.

-- Cornerback Paris Logan registered his fifth career interception against Murray State.

-- NIU returned 15 starters this year (7 offense, 7 deense, 1 specialist).
