Owens has also announced the signing of Darrian Ringo (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg/Eastern Arizona/Midland) to a National Letter of Intent. Ringo transfers in from Midland College and will be a junior beginning with the 2017-18 season. The 6-2 point guard will give Miami collegiate experience at the position while recently signed freshman Isaiah Coleman-Lands develops.
Ringo spent the past two seasons at junior college, playing both at Eastern Arizona and Midland College. With Eastern Arizona, he averaged 13.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while showing off his true point guard skills with an average of 7.1 assists per contest. He had at least six assists in 26 games that season.
Ringo was a 2015 graduate of Brownsburg High School in Brownsburg, Indiana. As a senior, he was named to the High Honorable Mention portion of the Associated Press’ All-State Teams.
“Darrian is going to come in with experience and be able to help lead the program,” said Owens. “He will be able to apply pressure on defense and get others involved on offense. He has improved his jump shot over the last two years and will be able to contribute immediately.”
Brown and Ringo join Jalen Adaway (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Isaiah Coleman-Lands (Indianapolis, Ind./La Lumiere School) as part of Coach Owens’ first recruiting class.
