► All C-USA selections Kalif Phillips (Sr., RB) and Larry Ogunjobi (r-Sr., DL top the 49ers returners. Phillips has rushed for over 3,000 yards in his career. Ogunjobi is the 49ers all-time leader in tackles, TFL and sacks.
Charlott also returns ILB Nick Cooke, who led the team in tackles; R-Sr CB Terrance Winchester, who broke the single season school record with a C-USA leading 4 INTs.
► Charlotte’s starting QB is Kevin Olsen, who transferred from Riverside (Calif) City C.C. Olsen won the starting job after joining the team for the spring semester. Matt Johnson, the 49ers all-time passing leader, who started the first two years, has been moved to running back.
► The 49ers started the season on the receiving end of Louisville QB Lamar Jackson’s dramatic 2016 debut. Jackson threw for six TDs and rushed for two more as the Cardinals thumped Charlotte 70-14.
► The 49ers reversed roles in Week Two, cruising past Elon 47-14.
► Olsen completed 19 of 25 for 155 yards and three TDs in Charlotte’s win.
► The 49ers totaled 274 passing yards. Nine players registered catches. Four had touchdowns. Austin Duke caught four balls for 103 yards and a score. T.L. Ford II had six receptions for 64 yards and a TD.
► Charlotte’s ground game provided 232 yards, averaging 6.6 ypc against Elon. Ben LeMay carried five times for 79 yards, while Hasaan Klugh chipped in three carries for 62 yards and completed 4 of 6 passes for 43 yards.
EASTERN MICHIGAN (1-1, 0-0 MAC)
► After scoring 61 points in an opening win over Mississippi Valley State in Week One, EMU surrendered 61 Saturday in a 61-21 loss at Missouri.
► Although Eastern produced 428 total yards, the hosting Tigers rolled up 647 yards and had a 30-21 advantage in first downs.
► Quarterback Todd Porter completed 23 of 45 passes for 287 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
► Nine EMU players caught passes John Niupalau (3/93) and Serio Bailey II (7/57/1 TD) led the way.
► Ian Ericksen led all rushers with 90 yards and one TD on 23 carries. (3.9 ypc). The Eagles totaled 141 rushing yards.
► LB Kyle Rachwal leads the team in tackles (14). Pat O’Connor has a team-high 2.0 sacks.
