PREVIEW: Georgia Southern at Western Michigan

After building a pretty good resume, including two wins over Big Ten teams, the Western Michigan Broncos have yet another chance to add to their resume Saturday. Georgia Southern comes to Kalamazoo with the same record as WMU – three wins and no losses.
The Eagles went 9-4 in 2015, knocking off Bowling Green, 58-27, in the GoDaddy Bowl last December.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN EAGLES  (3-0, O-O SUNBELT)
► The Eagles are coming off a 23-21 win over Louisiana Monroe. GSU fell behind 14-0 before scoring 23 straight points. When the Warhawks threatened with a late drive, Chris DeLaRosa came up with a key sack and R.J. Murray blocked  a  41-yard field  goal attempt.
► Georgia  Southern gained 345 yards rushing and held the ball for 41:37 in the win.
► Eleven of Georgia Southern’s 13 touchdowns came via its ground game.
► Wesley Fields (37/217, 3 TDs) and QB Favian Upshaw (34/216, 2 TDs) lead the Eagles rushing attack. Matt Breida, Kevin Ellison and Demarcus Godfrey have combined for 500 yards on 113 trips.
► Upshaw has completed 17 of 33  passes over three games, totaling 306 yards with two TDs and one interception.
► Eleven of Georgia Southern’s 13 touchdowns came via its ground game.
► E.J. Johnson III leads GSU with eight catches for 129 yards.
► Kicker Younghoe Koo has converted all four field goal attempts, with a long of 43.
 
WESTERN MICHIGAN (3-0, 0-0 MAC)
► WMU is seeking its first 4-0 start since 1994, when it began that season 5-0.
► The  Broncos are averaging 42.0 ppg with an extremely balanced offense. Through three games, WMU is averaging 281.1 ypg on the ground and 207.7 ypg via the pass.
► RB Jamauri Bogan enters the week ranked fif in the country in rushing with 426 yards. He earned MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors following a 189-yard day (24 carries) with two TDs in the win over Illinois.
► Senior quarterback Zach Terrell has completed 70.4 percent of his passes. His 50 completions have yilded  623 yards and five TDs. He has not thrown an interception.
► Western Michigan is already +3 on turnovers.
► Corey Davis leads the receiving corps, pulling down 18 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns.
► Kicker Butch Hampton has converted all 15 PATs and is five of seven on field goals (long of 47).
► Linebacker Robet Spillane has 25 tackles with 2.0 TFL, 1.o sack and one interception. LB Caleb Bailey has 9 hits, 2.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks.
