Three weeks into the 2016 season, Western Michigan is preparing to face its second Big Ten challenge. The first one went well, as WMU edged Northwestern. The Broncos followed that with a 70-21 blowout of North Carolina Central. Can they . . .

. . . continue to roll against an Illini team that has split its first two contests?

ILLINOIS (1-1, 0-0 BIG TEN)

► The results have been very mixed for Illinois, which is playing its third home game in as many weeks. The Illini dominated Murray State 52-3 in the opener. North Carolina figured to be a tougher challenge, and it was. Illinois stayed  the Tar Heels through three quarters and trailed 31-23 following a score at 14:55 of the final period. North Carolina dominated the rest of the way with 17 unanswered points for a 48-23 victory.
► Illinois is scoring 37.5 ppg and allowing 25.5 ppg.
► The Illini average 177.5 ypg passing and 234.5 ypg via the pass.
► Senior quarterback Wes Lunt has completed 32 of 56 passes, good for 353 yards and five scores this year. He is just 15 yards from 6,000 passing yards in his career.
► Lunt hit 17 of 35 passes for 127 yards (avg. 3.6 yards) with two touchdowns against North Carolina. He had a quarterback rating of 22.6 for the game.
► Eleven Illini caught passes against UNC. However, eight had just one reception. Malik Turner led the receiving corps with three catch for 33 yards with one score.
► KeShawn Vaughn averaged 7.7 ypc  last week, carrying 15 times for 116 yards and a TD.
► LB Hardy Nickerson owns 22 tackles with 3.0 TFL and 1.0 sacks.
► DL Gimel President has registered 4.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks. DB Taylor Barton has nine tacklees and one interception.

WESTERN MICHIGAN (2-0, 0-0 MAC)

► A win over Illinois would give the Broncos two wins against Big Ten opponents for the first time in school history. The Broncos last defeated Illinois in 2008, 23-17 in Detroit.
► A 3-0 start would be the first for Western Michigan since 1994, when it began the year 5-0.
► WMU is averaging 46.0 ppg and allowing 21.0 ppg.
► The Broncos total 515 ypg offensively, with 278.5 ypg coming via rushing and 236.5 through the air.
► Jamauri Bogan leads WMU rushing, carrying 39 times for 236 yards (6.0 ypc) with two TDs.  LeVante Bellamy is averaging 7.4 ypc with 18 trips for 134 yards and one score. Jarvion Franklin, another key piece of the RB triumvirate,
► Senior QB Zach Terrell has completed 70.7 percent (41 of 58) of his passes this year. The 41 completions yielded 473 yards and five TDs with no interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 167.6.
► Corey Davis already has 13 receptions, good for 220 yards with three TDs. Michael Henry is next with nine grabs for 80 yards.
► Safety Asante Brown has 15 tackles with 2.0 TFL. LB Caleb Bailey owns 2.0 sacks.
