Abrams played . . .
. . . 78 career games for the Mustangs, including 13 starts, and developed into a strong rebounding force down low. As a redshirt sophomore in 2016 he brought in 16 rebounds, including nine offensive against California. He also had a career-high 18 rebounds in a double-overtime victory over Cal State Northridge this past season on Feb. 22. Abrams ranked second on Cal Poly with 4.3 rebounds per game during his redshirt junior campaign.
“We are extremely excited about Aleks, just from a standpoint that with his overall size to have the mobility and energy to play the way he plays,” said Owens. “When he was able to have productive minutes, he rebounded the basketball extremely well. We are excited to have someone of his caliber, who is very intelligent and is going to be able to come and provide immediate help for us inside next year.”
Abrams will graduate from Cal Poly this spring and join the RedHawks previously announced signees Mekhi Lairy (Evansville, Indiana/Evansville Bosse), Elijah McNamara (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) and Myja White (Terre Haute, Indiana/Brebeuf Jesuit) who each signed a National Letter of Intent in November.
