TOLEDO, OH — Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk has announced the signing of 6-1, 170-pound guard Nick Rogers (Indianapolis, IN) to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Toledo beginning in the 2015-16 academic year.

“Nick is a very talented guard who is extremely quick and can generate offense a number of ways,” said Kowalczyk, who has guided the Rockets to a Mid-American Conference-best 47-20 (.701) win-loss mark over the last two seasons. “Nick is also a good on-ball defender, and we’re very excited that’s he decided to become a Rocket.”

Rogers attended Elev8 Institute, a prep school in Delray Beach, FL, during the 2014-15 academic year and was tabbed as the 13th-best player in the state of Indiana by espn.com. As a senior at Traders Point Christian Academy, he averaged a team-best 19.7 points, 4.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game to go along with a 49.4 FG%, 39.4 three-point FG% (71-of-180) and 80.0 FT% (92-of-115).

Rogers possesses some family ties to the Rockets’ program, as his great uncle Harvey Knuckles (1977-81) earned 1981 MAC Player of the Year honors.

Rogers is the fifth member of Toledo’s 2015-16 recruiting class. He joins forward Taylor Adway, forward/center Luke Knapke, guard Jaelan Sanford and Chandler White.
