TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo Rockets are headed into the Christmas holidays with their second-straight convincing victory following Monday evening’s 95-62 triumph over North Carolina A&T. The victory improved UT’s overall record to 8-4 and dropped the Aggies to 5-9.

Junior guard Jonathan Williams topped . . .

. . . the Rocket attack with 25 points, one shy of his career best. UT’s leading scorer with 20.1 ppg was extremely efficient from the field, knocking down 8-of-11 shots and 4-of-7 from three-point range.

Joining Williams in double digits was senior center Nathan Boothe (18 pts.), freshman guard Jaelan Sanford (16 pts.) and junior center Zach Garber (13 pts.).

Boothe also paced the Rockets with eight rebounds and seven assists in 25 minutes. Garber and sophomore guard Stuckey Mosley also grabbed seven boards to help UT to a 47-34 advantage on the glass.

Toledo registered 22 assists and just eight turnovers, improving its assist/turnover ratio to 1.84 which ranks fourth nationally.

Senior forward Bruce Beckford topped the Aggies with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Toledo shot 47.7 percent but cooled in the second half after knocking down 17-of-30 attempts (56.7 percent in the opening 20 minutes. UT shot 35.5 percent (11-of-31) from long-distance Williams and Sanford combined to hit 8-of-13 three-point shots as

Williams sparked the Rockets to a quick start with a pair of treys for a 12-2 lead less than four minutes into the game. Boothe and freshman forward Nate Navigato sank back-to-back treys to put UT up, 20-6, three minutes later.

The Aggies fought back though with a 6-0 run to reduce the Rockets’ cushion to 36-31 just over four minutes before halftime. Garber ended the spurt with a three-point play and UT took a 45-34 advantage into the locker room.

Toledo quickly erased any hope of an Aggie rally with a 17-0 run midway through the second stanza for a 71-39 margin with 10:26 to play.

UT will take a break for the holiday before returning to action on Wednesday, Dec. 30 with a home matchup vs. Northern Kentucky. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.
