Senior forward J.D. Weatherspoon tallied his third double-double of season with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, while junior center Nathan Boothe came close to that with 12 points and eight boards. The duo’s presence helped UT register a 38-34 advantage on the glass and get Ohio’s post players in foul trouble.
Senior guards Julius Brown (16 pts., five assts.) and Justin Drummond (12 pts.) also were in double figures for the Rockets (10-6, 2-1 MAC).
Senior guard Javarez Willis and senior forward Maurice Ndour paced Ohio (5-9, 0-3 MAC) with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Ohio battled back in the second half and took its only lead, 49-48, with 13:16 remaining following an 8-1 run. UT quickly answered with back-to-back three-pointers from sophomore guard Jordan Lauf (9 pts.) and Brown, and the Rockets’ lead remained four points or better the remainder of the contest.
Toledo returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 with a 7:00 p.m. home matchup versus Western Michigan (11-5, 2-1 MAC). The Rockets and Broncos are tied with Ball State (7-7, 2-1 MAC) and Central Michigan (12-2, 2-1 MAC) for first place in the MAC’s West Division.
Ohio is at Kent State Saturday (7 p.m. ET).
