Boothe paced the Rocket attack with 21 points to go along with six rebounds, while Weatherspoon posted a double-double with 19 points and a team-best 12 boards. Also in double figures for UT were sophomore guard Jonathan Williams (20 pts.) and senior guard Julius Brown (12 pts.)
Four more Rockets – senior guard Justin Drummond (9 pts.), sophomore center Zach Garber (9 pts.), sophomore guard Jordan Lauf (6 pts.) and sophomore forward Aubrey Williams (5 pts.).
Boothe and Weatherspoon helped UT dominate the glass by a 46-23 margin. The Rockets grabbed 17 offensive boards and limited the Oilers to just five.
The Rockets asserted themselves quickly, surging to an early 13-2 advantage capped off by a Weatherspoon slam less than four minutes into the contest to force the Oilers take their first timeout.
UT continued to put pressure on Findlay and extended its lead to as many as 20 points before settling for a 50-34 cushion at intermission.
Toledo officially opens its 2014-15 campaign on Sunday, Nov. 16 with a home contest vs. Northern Arizona. Tip-off time is set for 2:00 p.m.
