Taylor averaged 5.9 points and ranked second on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game in 22.1 minutes per game. A starter in 14 contests, Taylor notched career highs in points (20), field goals (9) and minutes (35) to go along with a team-high seven boards at No. 20 Ohio State (Nov. 18). He also grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds vs. St. John’s (March 4) the most by a Marquette player in BIG EAST play since Lazar Hayward had 17 vs. DePaul on Jan. 24, 2009.
Taylor was a first-team all-state selection by the Associated Press and the Chicago Tribune in 2012 at Chicago’s Simeon High School, which he helped win three-straight state championships and a 63-3 overall record in two years as a full-time starter. Taylor averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 3.0 assists per game as a senior and was ranked as 73rd nationally in Scout.com recruiting rankings.
Taylor is the seventh member of Toledo’s 2015-16 recruiting class. He joins forward Taylor Adway (Hazel Crest, IL), forward/center Luke Knapke (Minster, OH), forward Nate Navigato (Geneva, IL), guard Nick Rogers (Indianapolis, IN), guard Jaelan Sanford (Evansville, IN) and guard Chandler White (Fort Wayne, IN).
