Ten 3-star recruits among EMU signees

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University Head Football Coach Chris Creighton officially welcomed 25 student-athletes to the football program Wednesday, Feb. 3, on National Signing Day. All have committed to join the Eagles for the 2016 campaign.

The class includes 12 defensive and 13 offensive players representing 11 different states with eight recruits signing out of Michigan, four from Florida, three from Indiana, and two each from California and Ohio. On defense, EMU adds six on the defensive line, five recruits in the defensive backfield and a linebacker, while signing four offensive linemen, three tight ends, three wide receivers, two quarterbacks and a running back on offense.

The highly anticipated class features 17 different players ranked by the national recruiting services, including 10 rated as three-star prospects.

The class of 2016 includes five players that were previously enrolled in the fall of 2015. Those student-athletes include: Dieuly Aristilde (Boynton Beach, Fla.-Boynton Beach), Sam Browning (Escondido, Calif.-Escondido-Palomar C.C.), Sam Girodat (Jackson, Mich.-Lumen Christi), Nigel Kilby (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) and Luke Maclean (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc-Pittsburgh).

Jimmy Leatiota (San Jose, Calif.-Wilcox-College of San Mateo), Steven Nielsen (Dragoer, Denmark-La Lumiere (Ind.) School), Willie Parker (Lutz, Fla.-Carrollwood Day School) and Todd Porter (O'Fallon, Ill.-O'Fallon-Western Kentucky-Garden City C.C.) are also enrolled in classes at EMU and are expected to take part in spring practice.

The Eagles begin preparations for the 2016 schedule Thursday, March 3, when they hit the field for the first time in the spring. The annual spring game will be held Saturday, April 2, inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium.
