DETROIT, MI – Detroit's red-hot shooting from the perimeter proved to be too much for Toledo (6-3) to overcome on Wednesday evening in a 75-72 setback to the Titans (4-3) in Calihan Hall. UD buried 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) shots from three-point range, including 7-of-12 in the second-half, for the most by a Rocket opponent this season.

Freshman guard Jaelan Sanford had . . .

. . . a chance to hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for a second-straight game but his shot rimmed out.

Junior guard Jonathan Williams topped the Rocket attack with a game-high 22 points, while senior center Nathan Boothe tallied his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 boards. Sophomore guard Stuckey Mosley was also in double figures in the scoring column with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Junior forward Chris Jenkins notched a double-double for the Titans with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in 40 minutes. Also scoring in double digits for Detroit was freshman guard Josh McFolley (16 pts.), sophomore forward Jaleel Hogan (10 pts.) and senior guard Anton Wilson (10 pts.).

Toledo shot 39.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from three-point range and 75.0 percent (15-of-20) from the charity stripe. The Titans finished with a 49.1 FG%, 48.1 3PTFG% (13-of-27) and 72.7 FT% (8-of-11).

Toledo trailed, 67-63, with 3:44 left when Boothe knocked down two free throws and junior guard Jordan Lauf broke free for a layup for the 10th tie of the contest. McFolley gave UDM the lead back with a three-pointer with under two minutes to go.

Freshman forward Nate Navigato could only hit one of two free throws on UT's next possession with 1:31 remaining. UT had a chance to tie the score after McFolley missed  a long-distance shot but a long three from Boothe as the shot clock expired missed with 30.5 seconds remaining.

McFolley then missed a front end of a one-and-one but came up with a steal and layup to put the Rockets down 72-68 with 21 seconds to play.

The contest featured 12 lead changes, while the Rockets led by as many as seven points in the first half and five early in the second stanza.

Toledo returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 12 when it opens a four-game homestand vs. Oakland (5-3). Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
