The contest was the second of the evening inside Savage Arena as part of the Progressive Legends Classic Sub-Regional. Detroit posted a 69-55 victory over MD-Eastern Shore earlier in the day and will meet the Rockets tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
Toledo dominated the glass by a 43-28 margin, marking the first time this season it has outrebounded its opposition.
The Rockets also shot a season-best 51.7 field-goal percentage to go along with a season-high 50.0 3PTFG% (6-of-12) and committed a season-low seven turnovers.
UT opened the scoring before the game even tipped off when the visitors were assessed a technical foul for dunking in warm-ups. Brown hit a pair of free throws to begin the Rockets’ avalanche at the start. Boothe’s jumper and two Weatherspoon free throws increased UT’s advantage to six, and treys from Williams and Drummond extended the lead to a dozen. Boothe then drained two more jumpers before the Bison dented the scoreboard for the first time with 13:46 to play on a basket from J.C. Show.
Toledo maintained its strong defense the remainder of the half as it cruised to a 44-17 halftime lead and limited the Bison to a 25.9 shooting mark
