TOLEDO, OH – Toledo scored the game’s first 16 points on Monday evening and never looked back in a dominating 92-65 triumph over Patriot League foe Bucknell. The victory was UT’s largest over a Division I opponent since a 71-41 win over Northern Illinois on Jan. 18, 2012 and extended UT’s homecourt winning streak to 18 games (the second longest in school history).

The contest was the second of the evening inside Savage Arena as part of the Progressive Legends Classic Sub-Regional. Detroit posted a 69-55 victory over MD-Eastern Shore earlier in the day and will meet the Rockets tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.

All five Rockets scored in double figures led by senior guard Julius Brown’s 20-point, seven-assist performance. Junior center Nathan Boothe tallied 15 points followed by senior forward J.D. Weatherspoon (14 pts., 6 reb.), senior guard Justin Drummond (11 pts.,team-high 7 reb.) and sophomore guard Jonathan Williams (10 pts.)

Toledo dominated the glass by a 43-28 margin, marking the first time this season it has outrebounded its opposition.

The Rockets also shot a season-best 51.7 field-goal percentage to go along with a season-high 50.0 3PTFG% (6-of-12) and committed a season-low seven turnovers.

UT opened the scoring before the game even tipped off when the visitors were assessed a technical foul for dunking in warm-ups. Brown hit a pair of free throws to begin the Rockets’ avalanche at the start. Boothe’s jumper and two Weatherspoon free throws increased UT’s advantage to six, and treys from Williams and Drummond extended the lead to a dozen. Boothe then drained two more jumpers before the Bison dented the scoreboard for the first time with 13:46 to play on a basket from J.C. Show.

Toledo maintained its strong defense the remainder of the half as it cruised to a 44-17 halftime lead and limited the Bison to a 25.9 shooting mark
