Ohio 77, Central Michigan 69
Hosting Ohio exploded for 50 second half points and wiped out a six-point CMU halftime advantage to post its third victory over the last four games. All three wins were on the 'Cats' court.
Ohio (13-13, 5-8 MAC) was led by Jordan Dartis, who tallied 27 points. Twelve of his 13 shots from the field were beyond the arc, and he connected on seven. Three other starters also reached double figures: Ben VanderPlas (17), Jason Preston (15), and Lunden McDay (10). Sylvester Ogbonda cracked double figures in rebounds with a team-high 11 caroms.
Central Michigan (13-12, 6-6 MAC) made just 4-of-22 3-point attempts while falling to its fourth straight defeat. Kevin McKay paced the Chippewas with a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds. Rob Montgomery also registered a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
Eastern Michigan 70, Kent State 49
The Eagles turned a one-point halftime edge into a 19-point victory. It was EMU's third straight win and fifth victory in the last six contests.
Ty Groce led Eastern Michigan (15-11, 5-8 MAC) with 15 points, followed by Thomas Binelli (13) and Boubacar Toure (10 points, 9 rebounds). The Eagles were only 4-of-14 on treys but hit 50 percent from the field overall.
Kent State (17-9, 7-6 MAC) struggled from the field, connecting on just 29.1 percent overall and 16.1 percent while shooting 31 triples.
Danny Pippin was the only flashes player in double figures (15) and only starter with more than five points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Akron 71,Western Michigan 67
UA (20-6, 10-3 MAC) ran its win streak to four games while notching its second road win of the week.
Tyler Cheese led the Zips with a double-double fo 23 points and 11 rebounds. Loren Jackson tallied 17.
Michael Flowers hit 10-of-19 overall while scoring 22 points for Western Michigan (11-15, 4-9 MAC). Brandon Johnson contributed 14 points and 10 boards.
The Broncos shot 46.2 percent from the field and had eight more field goals. However, they got just four free throw attempts, making two. Akron cashed in on 19-of-27 opportunities at the stripe.
Buffalo 72, Ball State 59
UB (17-9, 8-5 MAC) used a balanced attack to notch its third straight win. Jeenethan Williams, Jayvon Graves and Josh MBalla all scored 16 points, with Graves (10) and MBalla (15) also reaching double figures in rebounds.
Antwain Johnson threw in a dozen points and Davonta Jordan chipped in 10.
Ishmael El-Amin scored 18 to lead Ball State (14-12, 7-6 MAC). Jarron Coleman added 15 points.
Knotted at 29-all after 20 minutes, Buffalo pulled in front to stay on a Johnson trey with 11:09 remaining. The Bulls then pulled away to hand Ball State its third loss in the Cardinals last four outings.
