Utomi joins Peter Agba Emmanuel Olojakpoke and Josh Williams, who signed NLI's in November.
"I view Daniel as a Brett McKnight-type of player," Dambrot said. "He is big, strong and can score from anywhere on the floor. You don't average 27 points per game in Houston if you are an average player."
In addition to earning First-Team All-District and MVP honors in 2015, Utomi is a two-time All-Region selection and was also named a First-Team All-District selection in 2014.
Utomi will be the third player from the Houston area on the Zips roster next season, joining fellow newcomer Olojakpoke and freshman Antino Jackson. Jackson and Olojakpoke were teammates at Cypress Springs High School.
"Houston has been very good to us so far," Dambrot said. "Coach (Charles) Thomas has been recruiting the area for several years and we have been able to make an impact in a very good area for high school basketball."
